Diana S. Walch, 78, passed away on the morning of March 22 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, four days short of her 79th birthday. Born on March 26, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, she was the daughter of Harold and Beth (Bryant) Loock. Diana grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and attended schools there. She would go on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with her degree in Geology. While in college, she met Andrew Walch, and the couple would marry shortly after finishing school. They moved often for work in their early years together, and Diana worked for a time as a geologist with the USGS. They would move to Louisiana where they started a family. They would then move to Texas, and later to Arlington, Virginia where their kids grew up. While in Arlington, she was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in the church library for about 28 years and delivered for Meals on Wheels. The church was very important to her, and she loved the people and activities there. She would later work for over 20 years as a floral designer. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed walking and running, and loved reading. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Devin and her husband Mick of Newcastle; her son, Bruce Walch and his wife, Carolin of Long Branch, NJ; and two grandchildren, Coorain Walch Devin and Chauncey James Devin.
