Delbert Merle Fish went to be with his Heavenly father on May 22, 2007. Delbert was born on October 24, 1922 to Luke “Minor” Fish and Laura (Beseman) in Warroad, MN. He and LaVerne Carpenter were married on August 8, 1943. In 1943, Delbert proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked various jobs, including logging, Marvin Windows, trucking. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and teaching his sons to hunt.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Dusty of Roosevelt, Mike (Sandy) of Roosevelt, Steve of Rome, NY, Gerald (Dorothy) of Roosevelt, Jeanette Smith of Cass Lake, Judy (Conrad) Bernard of Roosevelt, Paul of Roosevelt , Pat of Roosevelt and Nita (Steve) Brosdahl of Roosevelt; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Loren (Iris) of Warroad, Les of Roosevelt; sister, Patsy (Cliff) Johnson of Red Lake Falls; and special friends; many nieces and nephews, all his extended family, and his dog, Zues.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne in 1987; parents, Minor and Laura; son, Wendell in 1989; two grandsons; brother, Norman; and sister, Joy McLaughlin.
