Deacon William David Foster, 68, transitioned on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his childhood home, in Hickory Flat, MS.

 

Deacon William David Foster was born February 24, 1954, in Hickory Flat, MS, to Richard Foster and Jo Ann Wilson Foster. William David Foster was the youngest child of eight children. He departed this life Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at his birth place in Hickory Flat, MS. He accepted Christ and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and joined True Bibleway Church under the leadership of Bishop F.M. Dawson, which is now United House of Prayer under the leadership of Bishop Henry M. Finley, where he served as the third Head Deacon of the church for 60 years. He was also Choir President/Vice-President, Pastor Aid Committee, CEO of the Planning Committee, Usher and Music Manager. He was employed at The Slaughterhouse, Mohasco, Hill Craft, VIP, Glenfield Garage and Radiator and BenchCraft. He also had a lawn business; he was a mechanic and he sang with the group The Children of Christ.

 

Deacon William David Foster was united in holy matrimony to Daisy Mae Rutherford on June 28, 1980, and to this union one child was born.

 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Daisy Mae Rutherford Foster, one son, Shun Waldrop and one daughter, Jennifer Foster (Henry Haynes), four grandchildren: Christopher Carslick, Amelia Crisci, Tray Coleman and KD Haynes, one god-daughter, Tenisha Chambers, two brothers: Bennie R. Foster (Tracy) and James A. Foster (Ann), one sister: Ozella Foster, one aunt, Betsy Crosby, god-children: Zander Cox, Demetria Shumpert, a  special family friend, Mrs. Barrett, god-sisters: Laurel Johnson, Marian Bean, a close friend, Ben Briggs and a host of nieces. nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and brothers, Joseph and Henry, sisters, Majorie, Shirley, and god-sister, Rena Johnson. 

 

Body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
