HOLLY SPRINGS- Deacon Chester Lee Young, Sr., 68, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home in Holly Springs. He was born on May 12, 1949 in Slayden, MS to the late Roosevelt Young and Herriet Waller Young. Chester was a Vietnam veteran. He accepted Christ at and early age and united with Concord M.B. Church. Chester attended Sandflat High School where he received his high school diploma in 1967. During this period Chester relocated to Memphis, TN, where he met Phyllis Goodman. Later in 1970, they were United in holy matrimony. He worked and retired from the Army Depot in Memphis, TN. After retirement, he moved back to his family homestead and later reunited with his Concord Church Family. Chester grew in the Lord and became a faithful member. He was a willing vessel and served in various capacities: Male Chorus member, Deacon, Missionary and Sunday School Teacher. Chester loved learning the Word of God. One of his favorite scriptures was Matthew 6:9-13, The Lord’s Prayer.
