David Steven Anderson, 49, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at his home in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Dave was born to Jerry and Yvonne (Spaniol) Anderson on December 16,1970 in Saint Paul. He attended Nativity of our Lord grade school and graduated from St. Thomas Academy in 1989. He studied at Carleton College, the University of Minnesota, and Metro State University. Very few people knew Dave was a member of the American Mensa High IQ Society, but if you happened to watch an episode of Jeopardy with him, it was obvious. Dave was a financial advisor at Stifel Nicolaus before changing careers and becoming a housing advocate at the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis.
Foremost, Dave was a devoted father to his son Steven who was blessed with Dave’s intelligence and witty sense of humor. Dave was a kind, gentle, smart, and compassionate man. He enjoyed going to the beach, HOT weather, golfing, riding his bike, and most of all, good music. By “good” he meant a “rippin’” guitar solo. Dave was a spiritual person who found solace practicing Buddhism at the Clouds and Water Zen Center. He had a strong commitment to helping the homeless and touched the lives of many. Dave will be missed by his family and friends beyond words. We will forever cherish our memories with him and feel incredibly lucky to have called him ours. He will be forever on our minds and in our hearts.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie (Thompson); his mother, Yvonne; and his grandmother, Delores (Carufel) Spaniol. He is survived by his son, Steven; his father, Jerry; his siblings, Julie (Ross Armentor) Davis; Angie Weber; Drew (Jess Zillmer); his nieces and nephews – Yvonne, Lily, Angela, Matthew, Katie, Sophia, and Ayden; his grandmother, Velma Brinker; his grandfather, Thomas Spaniol Sr., and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
