David Gene Schisler passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 surrounded by family at his home in Cordova at the age of 71. David was born on September 30, 1946 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, to William E. and Regina A. Schisler. He was the second of seven children. David grew up in Baltimore and married Nancy Lee Farrell on November 6, 1965 at St. Ursula’s Catholic Church in Parkville, Maryland. They had three children: Tom, Ken, and Christina.
David served in the United States Army Reserves from 1964 to 1972, serving active duty at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He worked for B. Green and Company and A.W. Sisk and Son in the wholesale grocery business until he opened his own business, Chesapeake Sales, in 1980. He and his family moved to the Eastern Shore to raise their children and settled in Talbot County. David and Nancy operated an antique business in St. Michaels until their retirement. A member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, David was an avid hunter, never missing an opportunity to travel to Colorado each year with family and friends to hunt elk. He was a skilled craftsman who built furniture, kitchens, and a multitude of beautiful things out of wood and love.
