Originally from Faith, North Carolina, Dave met the love of his life, Sara “Sally” (Ervin), while in a club in Washington, DC. Dave asked Sally to dance and that is the beginning of the love story. They married September 19, 1970 and were married for 50+ years. Deeply in love and inseparable, they would actively seek out adventures and looked forward to a long and happy life.
Prior to attending the University of Maryland where he earned his Bachelors in Engineering, Dave honorably served four years in the United States Navy. Later in his career, he completed his Masters from George Washington University.
Dave was a man of few words but when he did speak, it was impactful.
Dave was known for being incredibly passionate about his work as an engineer for NASA Goddard. He created many innovations and received many awards and accolades from his work. He finally retired with 45+ years of service in 2007.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sara, their two daughters, Melinda and Jennifer; granddaughter Elizabeth, as well as extended family, friends, and coworkers he touched during his life time, who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel; brothers, Bryant, John and sister, Phyllis; and his parents: Ferris Bryant and Elizabeth McCombs Walser.
