Danny Steven Sipola, age 56, of Clearwater, MN died Sunday, November 1, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born June 12, 1953, the son of John and Jean (Halfors) VanDyk. He graduated from Gilbert High School, and went on to serve in the U. S. Air Force. He was married to Karen Rhyner in Watertown, MN. Danny was a retired maintenance mechanic working for several companies over the years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #323 in Clearwater, and was currently serving as the first Vice Commander and the Membership Director of the post. He was a member of the Honor Guard and the Legion Riders. Dan also helped with activities with the disabled Veterans such as fishing outings and hunting at Camp Ripley. He was recently elected to the Forty and Eight, an honor organization for U.S. Veterans..
Danny is survived by his wife: Karen; his daughter: Katie Sipola; and his son: Jon Sipola of Minneapolis; brothers: Lester (Donna) Sipola of Minneapolis, and John (Gena) VanDyk of Gilbert; sisters: Debbie (Maurice) VanDyk-Rodriguez of Scottsdale, AZ, Brenda (Jon Heyer) VanDyk of Minneapolis, and Barbara (Dean Herman) VanDyk of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
