Daniel Phillips More’, 82, of Mount Airy, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Born May 13, 1931 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Rafael and Hester More’ Sullivan. Three sisters, Margaret Voight, Kathryn Davis, and Mary Mays preceded him in death. He was the loving husband of 61 years of Hazel Monroe More’. Surviving besides his wife, are daughter Deborah and companion John Schroeder, and son Daniel and wife Cindy, two step-granddaughters, Wendy and Stephanie, and five step-great-grandchildren. Dan served in the United States Marine Corps and worked for the Defense Mapping Agency for 36 years making maps for the NASA moon landings. He performed missionary work for 21 years going into flood areas to rebuild homes in Illinois and Virginia and to repair churches in Mississippi, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in Frederick County. He was a key member of the Saint Andrews Potato Project sponsored by the United Methodist Men’s Organization to deliver them to the hungry and he was a member of the Linganore United Methodist Church.
