Age 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. She was born on June 9, 1931 in Clinton County, Michigan the daughter of William and Esther (Wirth) Schafer. Mrs. Keilen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Christian Mothers Guild. Cornelia enjoyed Spartan basketball, the Detroit Tigers, and especially watching her grandchildren play sports. She was an integral part of the dairy farm with her husband, Jim. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Alice Spitzley; in-laws, Walter and Odelia Keilen; brothers-in-law, Don and Larry Keilen, Tom Droste, and Dan Weber. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, James Keilen; children, Sue (Jay) Hill of Mason, Linda (Gary) Thelen of Westphalia, Robert (Diane) Keilen of Westphalia, Joyce Keilen and Mike Damas of Grasonville, MD, Diane (Rick) Davarn of Pewamo, and Kathleen (Duane) Schafer of Fowler; 11 grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Hill, Erin (fiancee, Joey Schmeling) Hill, Collin Thelen, Rachel (Brad) Spitzley, Matthew (Kristi) Keilen, Stefan Damas, Sarah Schafer, Brian Davarn, Courtney Rudat, Zach Rudat, and Brittney Rudat; 5 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Julieanne (Joe) Lenneman of Portland, Julia Atkins of Charlotte, Paul (Ruth) Schafer of Pewamo, Al (Doreen) Schafer of Pewamo, Michael (Janice) Schafer of Pewamo, and Charles (Sue) Schafer of Westphalia; brother-in-law, Roy Spitzley; several sisters and brothers-in-law.
