Clifton L. York, 66, of Bristol, passed away on the morning of February 9th 2014 at the Lincoln HealthCare Miles Campus in Damariscotta. Born in Damariscotta on May 10, 1947, he was the son of Joseph and Delores York. Cliff grew up in Damariscotta Mills and then Nobleboro, and attended local schools. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked many different jobs throughout the local area. He really enjoyed driving the school bus for Bristol School, and loved all the kids who rode his bus. Clifton resided in Bristol for the past 30 years, and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He always had a joke or a funny story for anyone who would listen. He was a New York Yankees fan, and loved NASCAR, his favorite driver was Bill Elliott. Cliff was rarely seen without a trusted German Shepherd by his side, or a Coors Light in his hand. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Shawn; brother, Donald; and his sister, Tena. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Barter and her husband Sam, and their children Brogan and Madison, all of Boothbay; granddaughter, Breanna York of Bremen; nieces, Kacie and Kira Gallant and their children; and nephew, Darren York and his family. He will also be missed by special friends, Jon Poland, Dana Hatch, Eric Runion and Family, and John Ruit, who were always there to help Cliff when he needed a hand.
