Clifton “Kip” LaForest Brown

Portland – Clifton LaForest Brown, known as “Kip” passed away on August 11, 2013. He was born on February 24, 1930 in Portland, the son of LaForest Clifton and Jennie (Profit) Brown.
Kip was a Korean War Veteran and member of the Wolfhound 27th Infantry Regiment Historical Society. He was a welder-assembler, employed by Southworth Machine Company for 35 years. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Madalyn (Nixon). Kip truly loved and adored his wife.
Kip loved music and was very proud of his son Kip’s and granddaughter Gina’s musical abilities. He loved boxing, hunting and horse racing. He was a corner-man with Rudy DiPietro in the hey-day of Portland Expo Boxing. Kip was also a member of the Biggest Bucks in Maine Club. He was one of the better pool players in Portland in the 1940’s and 50’s. He loved dogs and owned several Shetland Sheepdogs during his lifetime.
Kip is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madalyn (Nixon), their son LaForest “Kip” Brown and his wife Donna (DiPietro) and granddaughter Gina Marie Brown. He is also survived by Arlene DiMillo and her family, sister-in-law Barbara Esposito and her husband Joseph and their family with whom he was especially close as well as several other nieces and nephews and his close friends and neighbors.
