Clifton Evans Stokes, 92, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born in Yale Oklahoma, October 8, 1928, to the parents Claude “Pete” and Francis (Rundell) Stokes.
Clifton was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He married Betty E. Latham October 7, 1946. They were blessed with three children. He worked as an usher in a movie theater, Chase Candy Company, International Hat Company, and Brown Shoe Company. Clifton loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and floating the Black River on their pontoon with family and friends. Most of all he loved his wife and family, along with his church family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years; one brother: Larry Stokes; two sisters Barbara Harris and Janice Doyle.
Clifton is survived by his children: Mike Stokes of Piedmont, Donna DeMiere, and Stephanie Conley both of Imperial; grandchildren: Danny Murdick and wife Tania, Brian Vitale and wife Ali, Brad and wife Kerri Vitale; great-grandchildren Danielle Murdick, Henry Vitale, Vito Vitale, Abigail Vitale and Frank Vitale; brother-in-law: Don Doyle of St. Louis. Clifton will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
