Clayton Henry Fadness, 86, passed away September 3, 2006. He had been struggling with his health the past few years. He had a strong faith in Christ and had enthusiasm for life, which he lived a full life.

Clayton was born in Milnor, ND on November 16, 1919 to Henry and Ella Fadness, he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod). He moved to this area as a child in February of 1922. He grew up 4th in a family of 11 children. He completed 8th grade at the Hackett School and attended 9th grade in Baudette.

On May 3, 1952 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Delilah Larson in Roseau, MN. Following their marriage, the young couple made their home in Lake of the Woods County. First living in the Baudette area and then moving to Williams in 1962 and later they built their home near Williams in 1968.

Clayton was a hard worker that took pride in his work. He has worked farming, in a Dakota Coal Mine, in the woods (logging), he spent time working for commercial fishermen on the lake. He also worked in garages doing mechanic work, he was naturally talented as a mechanic, but most of his working career was spent around heavy equipment.

Family was important to Clayton, he enjoyed music and participated in all of the family sing a longs, singing and playing the guitar. He had a good voice and would listen to the sing a longs that he taped every year, until it was time to make more music with his family.

He was an independent visionary that was well read and very solid in his political views. At the age of 85 he bought cattle and had horses. At the time of his death he was in the process of building a cabin that was a lifelong dream of his. Clayton had a full life and he appreciated everyday that God gave him on earth.

Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Delilah Fadness; his son Marlo Charles Fadness; his brothers and sisters, Monica Hilke, Oralph “Bud” Fadness, Abner Fadness and Robert Fadness; and his parents.

Survivors include his son Todd (Carol) Fadness of Baudette; his daughter in-law, Joyce Fadness of Williams; his grandchildren, Alisha (Nathan) Lee of San Antonio, TX; Cody, Kyle and Curt Fadness all of Baudette; his great grandchildren, Christian and Chloee; his brothers and sisters, Ora (Sid) Moorhead of Baudette; Alton Fadness of Baudette; Roscille (Albert) Boomgaarden of Pitt; Quinten (Dorothy) Fadness of Boring, OR; Adelyne (Merle) Vertheen of Olympia, WA and David Fadness of Eagle River, AK; several nieces and nephews.
