Claiborne “Gene” Harriss, 80, of Montgomery County MD, passed away on July 14, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Washington, D.C. to Mary Louise Love (Patton) and Claiborne Manner Harriss on January 16, 1942. Preceded in death by his parents as well as Stepfather Ralph Love and sister Lora Lee McHale. Survived by children Gina Louise Seibel (Josh) of Highland, MD, son Jason Walker (Melinda) of Holly Springs, NC; and his 5 beautiful grandchildren Logan, Conner, Avery, Harper and Noah.
Gene graduated from Sherwood High School in Montgomery County in 1961. He was an athlete, known for playing football and running track. He cherished his high school years and all of his friendships from Sherwood. He also very much enjoyed attending the SHS reunions over the years to reconnect with old friends.
He was the most proud of his time within IUEC, Local 10. He entered the Elevator trade in 1963 and retired in 1999. In his 36 years, he was a very active member under Local 10 and held many positions from constructor to Local President. Known for his knowledge, strong opinions, and friendships to all. If you were a friend to Local 10, you were a friend to him.
