Portland, Christina Marie Athanasion-Smith passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at Seaside Rehabilitation Facility with her mother and brother by her side.
Christina was born in Portland and her curiosity and intelligence kept her parents on their toes. She graduated from Deering High School, class of 1993 with honors. She married her high school sweetheart and relocated to Delaware with her husband. Christina studied dental hygiene and earned a RDH and a BSDH from the University of New Mexico graduating with honors in 2002. Christina excelled in her career and passed her passion for dental hygiene to others by teaching students at UNM. During her studies she joined the Air Force with her husband and earned several commendations including SR Airmen of the Year Award. She and her husband relocated to Highland IL where she continued to practice dental hygiene; however this marked the end of her marriage. Christina moved back to Portland where she belonged.
