Arvid Carrol Christiansen, 88, entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, following several months of health-related difficulties.

Arvid was born on November 2, 1917, the son of Christen Christiansen and Ida (Knutson) Christiansen, and was named after the Rev. Arvid Horn, who conducted nuptials for his parents. He attended area schools, and graduated from Williams High School in 1936, after which he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, where he studied building trades, and joined his father in the carpentry business.

On June 12, 1941, he married Mildred R. Gillie, with the ceremony-taking place at the Pilgrim Congregational Church where he was a lifelong member. Over the course of his working years he was employed as a carpenter, cabinetmaker, and potato farmer.

Over a career of 50 years, Mr. Christiansen and his crew built many homes and outbuildings in Baudette, Warroad, Williams, Roosevelt and outlying areas, and he did volunteer construction work at the museum, the county fair grounds, as well as at the Congregational Church in Williams. He enjoyed league bowling for many decades, fishing, and traveling the US and around the world after retirement.

Arvid is survived by his wife, Millie, a resident at the Care Center in Baudette, as well as his children, Kenneth (Julia) of Fargo, ND; Steve (Charlotte) of Roosevelt, MN and Susan (Steve) Feldhake of Effingham, IL; his sisters, Lillian (Fred) Giesler of Middleton, WI; Irene Timm of Marshall, MN; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Joe, a former police Lieutenant in Baltimore Maryland.

Military honors provided by the Baudette Ceremonial Squad.
