Charles R. Rampmeyer of Ridgely, MD, died on October 11, 2016 in Salisbury, MD. He was 90 years old.
Born in Ridgely on April 19, 1926, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mildred Cross Rampmeyer. He graduated in June 1943 from Ridgely High School; then worked for Breyers Milk plant until 1943. He then served two years in the Navy Seabees where he was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Breyers, and then worked for Playtex for ten years and DAFB for thirteen years before retiring.
He married his beloved wife Patricia J. Nashold Rampmeyer in December 1949, who passed away December 1, 1994. He was also a member of the VFW 7937, DAV, and a lifetime member of the Legion Post 29. He is survived by his longtime friend and devoted companion, Anna Mae Walls. Two brothers, Andrew “Tommy” Rampmeyer (Nellie) of Trappe, MD and Claude “Pete” Rampmeyer (Francis) of Easton, MD. Three sons, Ray Rampmeyer (Becky) of St. Michaels, MD, Danny Rampmeyer (Barbara) of Ridgely, MD, Brian Rampmeyer (Theresa) of Sandtown, DE.; two daughters, Charlene Rosebrock of Church Hill, MD, and Denise Carroll of Laurel, DE.; fourteen grandchildren: Alden Rampmeyer, Kelly Rampmeyer, Kimberly King, Holly Lasher, Curtis Barnhart, Brandon Barnhart, Brent Rampmeyer, Bonnie DeBord, Chris Hulliger, Travis Newman, Mark Carroll, Laura Carroll, Mandy Rampmeyer, and Brittany Rampmeyer; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur “Ott” Rampmeyer and Robert Rampmeyer, and one grandson, Charles “Chucky” Carroll.
