Charles Alexander Taciak of Lee Center, New York, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his son’s home in Dayton, Maryland, where he had been residing for the last four and half years. He was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, on September 19, 1918. In the early 1920s his family relocated to a farm in Lee Center, New York which he always called home.
In the mid-1930s the Taciak family became associated with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and this became a central part of family life. In 1941, Charles became a full-time minister serving in Utica and later in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. He then served 2 years working at Brooklyn Bethel operating the factory generators. He married Rhoda Kelley on May 29,1948 and settled in Baltimore, Maryland where they raised three sons. Charles and Rhoda were married for 61 years.
Charles was mechanically minded, a skilled carpenter, a home builder and a back-hoe operator. He enjoyed volunteering his time remodeling and building Kingdom Halls throughout his life. He especially liked sharing Bible truths and his love of God informally and from door to door. Charles also had a passion for flying and enjoyed his small private plane for many years.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends both in Maryland and New York State. Surviving are his sons, Foster, Philip (wife Christine), and Frank (wife Paula), and his grandsons Sam and Alex.
