Scarborough – Cecil L. “Sonny” Kendall a Scarborough resident passed away March 31, 2023, after a series of medical illnesses at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
During his lifetime he worked for area contractors. His work can be seen throughout the Greater Portland area from commercial buildings to sidewalks.
Cecil was a proud Army veteran. Early years he did trapping and sold the furs. He enjoyed boating, fresh, and saltwater fishing with his family. He also took great pride in his home, yard, and vegetable garden. After retirement he took up wood carving and carved many impressive custom carvings. He spent many hours entertaining himself doing word search.
Cecil married Annette Plourde of St. John, Maine on February 23, 1963, 60 years.
He was predeceased by sisters Ann Blake of Westbrook, Lorraine Jones, and Geraldine Reny both of Scarborough.
He is survived by his wife Annette Plourde Kendall; one daughter Patricia Drake and husband Scott Stackpole of Scarborough; two grandchildren Matthew Drake of Scarborough, Ashley and husband Mike Schongar of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank Hospice of Southern Maine for all their help and support through this most difficult time.
