Catherine M. Munofo of Roslindale passed away October 20, 2012. She was 74 years old. Born in East Boston on August 14, 1938, Catherine was the proud daughter of Ignazio and Ida Munofo and in 1941 she won first place in a contest as most beautiful child in all of East Boston. Catherine attended the East Boston Elementary Sister School before moving to Roslindale in the summer of 1944. She attended the Washington Irving Junior High School where she was awarded a full scholarship to attend art school at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. She later graduated Hyde Park High School. Catherine was a very talented artist and also a model, training for 2 years at Ms. Allen’s Finishing School of Modeling in Boston. Most of Catherine’s professional life included bookkeeping and caregiving. Catherine had a fascination with Indian heritage and artifacts and she incorporated this passion into some of her artwork. In addition to painting, she loved to sew, knit and crochet everything from blankets to sweaters, hats and scarves. Catherine selflessly sacrificed many years of her life to take care of her parents, whom she cherished. She enjoyed traveling back and forth between their home in Roslindale and their home in Florida to help them through the years. Although she did not have children of her own, Catherine was like a second mother to her nieces and she was always there for them. A very caring aunt, she loved to teach arts and crafts, and painting. Catherine was always happy, content and peaceful.
