Carroll Wendell Lewis Sr. was born on May 26, 1938 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the Reverend Moses and Bessie Lewis. Carroll or “Wendell” as he was affectionately known, grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and earned his Associate Degree at Morgan State College (now known as Morgan State University).
Wendell was an avid reader. He loved traveling, gardening and nurturing his progeny. He took great pride in his community. He was an enthusiastic sportsman but his favorite pastime was listening to music. From the early days of country and rock and roll to the days of modern jazz, he truly believed that music soothed the soul.
Wendell was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Moses Reginald Lewis, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Pamela; his sons Carroll Wendell Lewis, Jr. and James A. Fulcrum; his grandsons Brandon J. McRae and Keith McRae; his great-grandchildren Tayla McRae and Jaylen McRae, his sister Gwendolyn and his brother Rodney, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
