Mrs. Carolyn Lynch Huey was born in Wilmington, Delaware on July 13, 1932. Carolyn was an alumna of Ursuline Academy, Wilmington, DE. She married the love of her life, I. Frank “Sandy” Huey on April 7, 1951. Carolyn reveled in the role of wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Sandy were blessed in this life with a great family and a host of dear, lifelong friends. They raised their family on Swan Creek Farm in Galena, Maryland before retiring to the middle coast of Maine. Carolyn had a great way of putting things and always remained focused on service to family and God. She was an active member of the Saint John’s Catholic community in Brunswick, Maine and cherished her relationship with God and the Blessed Mother.
Not a pair to sit around, they quickly opened the Harpswell Inn, and its accompanying restaurant nearby. Despite great success in their hospitality endeavors, Carolyn wanted to put her spectacular eye for design and penchant for hanging wallpaper to good use by flipping houses decades before the practice became hip. After several flips, Carolyn decided it was really time to retire, and opened her home to the daily care of several of her grandchildren. She took this opportunity of daily contact with babies, whom she called the most interesting people, to ensure that all of her charges knew how to do chores well and how to take good care of each other. She was quick-witted and doled out brilliant advice to anyone who may or may not be listening.
