Carol Ann (Swett) Burchill
Portland – Carol Ann Burchill, 79, passed away February 8th at her home. Carol was born March 18, 1943 in Portland, the middle child of Orville and Shirley Swett.
She graduated from Gray’s Pennell Institute in 1961, and worked at Maine Medical Center, EC Jordan, Woodard & Curran and Sebago Technics. Carol was a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and was chosen as Secretary of the Year in 1998 by the Portland Maine Chapter. She made many lasting friendships through IAAP and continued to get together with her very dear friends throughout the years.
An active member of the Portland Elks Lodge #188, Carol was chosen 2018-2019 Officer of the Year while holding the position of Treasurer. She was the Trustee Chairwomen at the Lodge (2016-2021), and a member of the House Committee, Activities Committee and Bingo office. Carol was also a member of the Portland Moose Lodge #1310.
She loved traveling with her companion Dennis Rickett. Together, they cruised throughout Europe, Canada, the North Atlantic and U.S.
Carol is survived by her parents, Orville and Shirley Swett of Naples, FL.; daughter Stephanie Love and her husband Scott of Anchorage, AK; son, Scott and his wife Rebecca and daughter Emma Shea of Scarborough; brother Gary Swett and his wife Jackie of Sanford; sister Ruth Schofield of Portland; nephew Carl Burdin and his wife Anne Marie of Naples, FL; and Carol’s 10-year companion, Dennis Rickett of Portland.
At her request, there will be no service.
