Carmine Pesce, Jr. 81, of Portland, passed away on Saturday August 22, 2015. He was born in Portland, ME the son of Maria (Rega) and Carmine Pesce on January 16, 1934.~ He attended local schools and played baseball and football at Portland High School. Carmine graduated from Portland High School, and in 1954 he married the love of his life, Arlene Malia. Arlene was his soul mate in the truest sense of the word. She was everything to him. They enjoyed living and raising four children in Portland.
When Carmine was a boy he loved to listen to the Red Sox play baseball, a passion which he carried into his adult life; he always enjoyed watching the “ball game”. A big sports fan, he enjoyed following the Red Sox through their many trials and triumphs! He loved a good joke and Carmine was a great friend to all. Carmine’s greatest joys were his wife, family and friends. He loved going to see his friends at the Italian Heritage Center, where he was a member for over 50 years. ~ Also, he was a self taught pianist, loved music, and enjoyed singing in the Italian Heritage Chorus. ~ ~
Carmine was employed as a manager at Hub Furniture for the last 45 years, where he greatly enjoyed the furniture business, meeting people, and helping them with their furniture needs.~ Prior to working at Hub, he sold appliances at W.T. Grant for many years.
Carmine was predeceased by his parents, Arlene, his wife of 55 years, his siblings: Jerry, Anne, Camilla, Rocco, Cecelia, Helena, Yolanda, Albert, and Ralph.~ He is survived by his children, Anna Maria Stankiewicz and her husband, Glenn of Gorham, Bernadette Pesce of Portland, Catherine McLaughlin and her husband, John of Standish, and Carmine Pesce III and his wife, Alisha, of Woolwich, and four grandchildren Natasha, Alyssa, Lauren and Nicholas.~ Carmine is also survived by brother-in-law, John Malia, and sisters-in-law: Margaret Malia, Frances Thompson and her husband, Rodney, Patricia Russo, and Anne Marie Card and her husband, Cliff, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
