Burton ‘Burt’ Emanuel
June 1, 1944 – September 16, 2022
Burton Rolland Emanuel, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16th, 2022, in Mankato, Minnesota.
Burt was born to Burton Emil and June (Rolland) Emanuel on June 1st, 1944, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. As a kid he enjoyed playing competitive hockey. In 1956, he and his family moved to Mankato where he graduated from Mankato High School in 1962. He attended Mankato State College and studied art. His interest in art drew him to a lifetime career in construction, where he worked as an independent contractor.
In January 1970 he met the love of his life, Colleen Mary McDonald, whom he married on May 16th, 1971, at Christ the King Church in Mankato. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021 with their family.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Colleen Emanuel of Mankato, daughter Tamara (Shane) Gibson of North Mankato, son Brandon (Shavonne) Emanuel of Mankato, daughter Kimberly Manderfeld of Mankato, and grandchildren Archer Gibson and Aubrey Emanuel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gail Malvin of Mankato and her husband M.C. Malvin.
