Obituary for Bryce "Pappy" Holcomb

Bryce (Pappy) Henry Holcomb, age 77, of Hibbing died March 30th, at home with his wife Sandy at his side after a short brave fight with cancer. He was born May 23, 1935, to Walter and Nora (Eichol) Holcomb in Brookings, South Dakota.
He graduated from Bemidji High School then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in Missile Control. He married his wife Sandy (Cynthia Hanson) on April 18, 1981, and they were married for 31 years. He retired from Electric Power Door, from his second career delivering bundled newspapers with Rich Ledoux Trucking, and his third career at Hibbing Public Access.
He was an avid wildlife and scenery photographer taking many pictures that were displayed at the Hibbing Gallery Hop. While living in Silver Bay, he and his wife Sandy hiked all the rivers and waterfalls along Lake Superior from Duluth to the Canadian Border taking many pictures and collecting rocks. He enjoyed the yearly family camping trips with all the kids and grandkids. He is a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing and a past member of United Protestant Church in Silver Bay where he served as a member of the Diaconate committee.
He is survived by his wife: Sandy; his children: Crystal Cole of Bloomington, Tracy (Amanda) Holcomb of Woodbury, Chris (Andy) Magnusson of Hibbing, Jack (Jean Kallsen) Jarvis of Hibbing, Jeffery (Cathy) Holcomb of Arkansas, and Vicky (Tom) Lopeman of Arkansas; his sister Mirab (Gary) Bakken of Langby, MN; his brothers: Curt Holcomb of Hibbing, and Myron (Terri) Holcomb of Virginia; 12 grandchildren: John, Ashley, Courtney, Dylan, Chandler, Matthew, Corrina, Nycholas, Rylie, Aidian, Kathy and Arron; and many nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
His family wishes to thank Dr. Gueli and RN Terri of St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth, and North Star Hospice of Hibbing for all the caring and kind staff.
