Bruce Butler Barker, age 82, longtime resident of Britt died Friday, April 20, 2012 in Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. He was born February 14, 1930 in Superior, WI, the son of Purcell “Percy” and Ruth (Butler) Barker. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia. Bruce was united in marriage to Ida Pauna on November 20, 1964 in Britt, MN.
Bruce worked as a Railroad Conductor for DW&P Railroad and operated Bruce’s Sharp-All Shop. He served in the Naval Reserve. Bruce was an active member of the 1st Lutheran Church in Buhl, and a founding member of the Range Retriever’s Club. He enjoyed swimming and dog training.
Bruce is survived by his children and step-children: Lynn (Tom) Niemi of Aurora, MN, Terry (Donnelle) Barker of Rochester, MN, Lilian (Bob) Olivanti of Virginia, MN, and Vi (Ralph) Booker of Virginia, MN; sister: Betty Flax of Tucson, AZ; brother: Kent (Pat) Barker of Tucson, AZ, Eden Prairie, MN, and Britt, MN; two grandchildren: Trevor and Alyssa; five step-grandchildren: Tony, Sara, Brad, Steve, and Danny; his special friend and companion: Vera Hagen of Buhl, MN; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; his wife Ida (1993); his step-son Walter Pauna; and his step-grandson: David.
