Blanche M. Voorhees of Denton, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. She was 94 years old.
Born in Hopewell, NJ on January 17, 1923, Mrs. Voorhees was the daughter of the late Asa Reed Hill and Clara Leigh Hill. Her husband, Edgar S. Voorhees, died January 15, 1998. Mrs. Voorhees graduated in 1941 from the Central High School in Hopewell, NJ. She and her husband moved to Denton in 1959 from Pennington, NJ. They were dairy farmers until they retired in 1993. She also had been a member of the Denton St. Luke’s United Methodist Church before becoming a member of the Ridgely Church of the Brethren. She was the Treasurer for the AARP Chapter 915 and the St. Luke’s United Methodist Women, and had been active in the 4-H All Stars.
Mrs. Voorhees is survived by three sons: Robert E. Voorhees and his wife, Carol of Houston, DE; James H. Voorhees of Kennedyville, MD; and Dean R. Voorhees of Denton; and six grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Voorhees is also predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl L. Voorhees.
