Beverly Marshall Johnson, 91, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on December 29, 1924 to the late William and Florence Moore Marshall. Beverly was raised in Church Creek through her childhood and later moved to Cambridge where she graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941.
Following graduation she worked at Phillips Packing Company in the main office, where she was employed when she married H. Sidney Johnson on January 9, 1943. They made their home in Cambridge where the couple worked together building their business, “Sid Johnson’s Boat and Transportation Company Inc.” and she worked as the bookkeeper. After selling the business in 1986, the couple enjoyed their retirement years together building race boats and spoiling their cocker spaniels “Andy” and “Andy” until the passing of Sidney on July 14, 2013.
Beverly enjoyed reading, watching old TV shows and Saturday night Polka shows and solving crossword puzzles.
The couple had been longtime members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a current member of Chateau Community Church.
She is survived by a brother in law Kenneth Johnson, sister in law Marydel Russell, several nieces and nephews and their “daughter” Pat McDonald and her husband Kenny, who assisted her for the past several years and was an employee in the business since she was 10 years old. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister June Galarneau and a brother W. James Marshall.
