Beverly Duckstad, 86, of Warren, MN, left this earthly life to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at North Valley Health Center.

Beverly Ann came into this world shortly after her twin sister Betty, on November 11, 1935.  Her parents Helmer and Bergliot “Bergie” (Pederson) Haugen raised their eight children on the family farm north of Fertile, MN. Bev attended country school and graduated from Fertile Beltrami High School in 1953. On July 24, 1955, Bev was united in marriage to David B. Duckstad, a Korean War Veteran and land surveyor in Fertile: her father-in-law, Rev. B.L. Duckstad presided. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Litchfield, MN and Mcintosh, MN for a short time before moving their growing family to Warren in 1959.  Bev and David would live in the same house on Fletcher Ave for 50 years and had the best neighbors in town.

After her children were in school, Bev began working at the Warren Elementary School as a paraprofessional in 1972. She was an aide, a friend, a mother, and grandma to hundreds of kindergartners over her 39 years of service. Kids somehow found she had a special knack for pulling baby teeth in a way that didn’t hurt. What’s more, she was so skilled at this, that loose-toothed kids would show up at her front door- even over the summer. Apart from her day job, Bev was a night owl in her kitchen where she baked hundreds of cakes a year for any occasion and was known as the cake lady in Warren.  Her talent at decorating didn’t end at cakes: she stayed up late, too, with all of her “fancy work” of crocheting, knitting, and sewing. For five decades Bev did what she loved, making cakes and lovingly giving away the work of her hands. She was active in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Mawami Club, Church Circle, the Warren Homemakers, and her knitting club.

Bev will be long-remembered and cherished for all the care she gave everyone and of course, being the best Mother, a child could ask for.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (James) Gross of St. Cloud, MN, James (Tammy) Duckstad of Warren, and Mary (Mark) Carlson of Hayfield, MN; five grandchildren, Ben (Kristen) Duckstad, Kaley (Terry) Wilkins, Dani (Jordon Eder) Duckstad, Zak (fiancee Nicole) Duckstad, and Jeremy Duckstad; great-grandchildren, Blake, Addison, Lauren, and Sonny; twin sister, Betty (Erman) Ueland of Fertile; siblings, Yvonne Nelson of Grand Forks, ND, Howard (Elizabeth) Haugen, and Lois Bauer of Fertile; sister-in-law, Irmy Haugen; and her very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David;  son, Robert Duckstad; great-grandson, Devin Duckstad; siblings, Luverne (Bill) Swanson, Gene (Irene) Haugen, and Myron Haugen; brother-in-laws, Lyle Nelson and  Dale Bauer; sister-in-law and brother -in-law Beverly and Paul Guldseth; parents-in-law, Rev. B. L. and Lila Duckstad, and her late-night cake-baking companion, Everett the Irish Setter.
