She was born on January 20, 1912 in Lake Odessa the daughter of Henry and Ruth Geiger. Mrs. Slocum was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Slocum on March 11, 1991. Surviving are two sons, Gordon D. (Shirlene) Durkee of Fremont, MI. and Terry L. (Skeet) Slocum of Greenville; Grandchildren, David Durkee, Brian Durkee, Kathy Klawieter, Lisa Brummel, Terry L. Slocum II. and Scott Slocum; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Ardith Spencer of Ionia.
