Betty “Maw Maw” Doerner passed away Monday morning, November 14, 2022, with her three sons by her bedside. Betty was 90 years old. Betty loved to laugh, joke, and carry on. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her three sons and their families. She made the best dumplins you have ever eaten. She was mostly a homemaker, working some in the West Lauderdale cafeteria and Ms. Brenda’s store, “The Martin Grocery.
Betty is survived by her three sons Mike Carpenter (Gini), their son Benji (Deena), and their children Ben Patrick, Lathan, Tori, Cole and little Lillie Jewell; Dennis Carpenter (Gayla), and their two daughters Taylor Kay Smitherman (Sutton) and Kendal Carpenter; Scott Carpenter (Desiree), their daughter Lacy Overby (Tyler), their boys Kamp and Kade, and a grandson Zach Carpenter (Brittany) and their son Kayson; nephews Larry, Terry, Greg, Leon, and R.W. Williams; nieces Barbara Ann, Nell Gavin, and Karen Bryant; stepchildren Johnny Doerner, Billy Doerner, Cathy Doerner Shoemake, and Robin Doerner Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin C. “Paw” Doerner; 5 brothers Elwood, James, Theodore “Theo”, Leland, and Hershel Williams; her parents Arthur and Ruby Williams; nephews William “Willie”, Harold, and Dewayne Williams, also a sister she never met until Monday, who died at the age of 5, Eloise.
