Betty Westberg, 85, of Warren, MN, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Sanford Health’s Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.
Betty Mae Foldoe was born January 6, 1926 at Highlanding, MN, the daughter of Lars and Hannah Foldoe. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944 and then from Thief River Falls Teacher’s Training in 1945, which qualified her to teach in rural schools.
On April 1, 1950 she was united in marriage to Iven Gilmen Omundson in Thief River Falls, MN. They had 3 children: Wayne, Rodney, and Carolyn. Iven Gilmen Omundson died in 1962. Betty married Roy V. Westberg on June 6, 1964 in Warren, MN. She worked for Roy V. Westberg Construction as bookkeeper and secretary until his death in 1988.
Betty was very active in her church and community. She held various officer positions in various clubs and organizations: a member of First Lutheran Church; the last charter member of the Warren Home & Auxiliary; a member of Dirt Diggers Garden Club, Agassiz Swedish Heritage Society, Living at Home Block Nurse Program, and several women’s clubs. When her children were younger, she was a leader for the Girl/Boy Scouts and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
