Betty Marie Beall Day, 90, formerly of Ijamsville, died November 11, 2017, at the Citizen’s Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, Maryland.
Betty, the daughter of the late Leslie G. and Bessie Lewis Beall was born on December 8, 1926, on the family farm in Lewisdale, MD. She graduated from Damascus High School in 1944. She worked on the farm until she was married on July 23, 1947, to James M. Day, who died January 9, 2008. They were married over 60 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her husband and their children. When the children entered high school she was employed at the Sew and Save store in Clarksburg, MD, and later was a cashier at the New Market Middle School Cafeteria retiring to help take care of her in-laws.
She was a lifelong faithful member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Damascus, where she served on the Administrative Board, Evangelism Committee, United Methodist Women, and was a Sunday School Teacher, Communion Steward, and a member of the choir. She loved her Savior, Jesus, and committed her life to serve Him through devoting herself to her family and church community.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda J. Drish and husband Robert of Dickerson; and Joan M. Stanley and husband Roy of Ijamsville; and a daughter-in-law Cynthia Day of Lititz, Pa.; grandchildren, Christy Drish, Jean Donk (Steven), Robert Drish, Kimberly Day, David Friedrich, Laura Allen (Thomas), James Stanley (Lisa), Jennifer Carder (Jason), Ryan Stanley (Rebecca), and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Carroll Day (Darlene) and sister-in-law, Rowena Day, both of Ijamsville.
She is preceded in death by a son, Gary W. Day; a brother, Rudell Beall; sisters, Edna Day and Helen Linthicum; brothers-in law, James W. Day, and Kenneth L. Day; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Beall and Ruth Beall.
Bearers will be grandsons, Thomas Allen, Jason Carder, Steven Donk, Robert Drish, David Friedrich, James Stanley and Ryan Stanley. Honorary bearers will be Robert Beall, Clark Beall, Dick Bennett, Carroll Day, Kenneth B. Day, Rudy Day, Phil Sewell and Carroll Shipley.
The family extends a special thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Citizens who took wonderful care of her during her last four months.
