Betty J. Boothe, 84 of Newcastle, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, March 26, 2013 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. She was born February 12, 1929 in Rockland, Maine, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Edna (Smith) Barton. Although her family moved to Connecticut during the Depression to find work, she always longed to return to Maine, and was so happy to be able to move back several years ago. She loved this area and all of the people she met here and became friends with; her friends at Franklin School Apartments, where she resided, held a special place in her heart.
