Bernard Sotzsky, age 96, of Hibbing and formerly of Frederick, MD, Adelphi, MD, and Hyattsville, MD, died Monday, August 22, 2016, at his home with family by his side. He was born July 21, 1920, in Washington, DC, the son of Jacob and Sarah (Gamsen) Sotzsky. He graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, DC. Ben was united in marriage to Ann D. Zeni on June 12, 1948, in Washington, DC. A Veteran of the US Coast Guard, Ben served during WWII.
Ben worked in the Circulation Department of the Washington Times Herald and the Washington Post for more than 50 years – retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Lion’s Club. Ben enjoyed horse-racing, and later enjoyed woodworking.
Ben is survived by his wife of 68 years: Ann; sons: Arthur Joseph Sotzsky and Steven David (Barbara) Sotzsky, both of Hibbing; grandchildren: Lori (Ed) Joy, Tammy (Rick) Richardson, Steven Thomas Sotzsky, Kevin P. Sotzsky, Katie Sotzsky, Joshua Zeni (Kelly) Sotzsky, and Michael Warpula; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Connor, Justus, Tyler, Gavin, Skyler, Jack, Jenna, and Brianna; brother: Harold Sotzsky of Penbroke Pines, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Thomas; daughter-in-law: Mary Sotzsky; brothers: Louie and Hymie; and sisters: Pauline, Celia and Lena.
