Bennie “Sonny” Storo Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in rural Roseau on February 27, 2017 at the age of 75.

Sonny was born on November 9, 1941 in Fargo, ND to Bennie Storo and Benora (Ronning).  He was raised in Perley, MN and later graduated from Racine High School in Racine, WI.  He served in the U.S. Navy ~ U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962.  He and Mary (Kvien) were married on July 7, 1962 at the Pinecreek Lutheran Church.  Sonny worked for the J.I. Case Company in Racine, then moved to Roseau in 1969.  After arriving in Roseau, Robert Kvien, Donnie Kvien & Sonny opened and operated K & S Sports Center and the Texaco gas station in Roseau during the early part of the 70’s.  Sonny then worked & managed at the V.F.W. and also part time at Roseau Diesel.  He finished out his working career at Polaris Industries, where he held several positions from Safety/Security manager to other various positions.  He was the gambling commissioner at the Roseau V.F.W.

He enjoyed fishing and camping at Buffalo Point, gardening and the Friday night V.F.W. bingo crowd.  He was a life-long member of the Roseau V.F.W. and Past Post Commander, and attended the Pinecreek Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Storo of Roseau; sons, Steve, (Penny) Storo of Chanhassen, MN and Timothy (Rhena) Storo of Roseau; grandchildren, Jack, Kaitlin, Jena and Jonathan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie, Benora and Terry Tendeland.
