Barbara Jean Thompson Butterworth, passed away at her home on Monday, June 20, 2022.

Barbara was born to Roy and Zonie Mae Thompson on January 22, 1936 in Ackerman, MS. She met her true love, Walter Ollie Butterworth and at the young age of 15 she married him. Ollie spoiled her and treated her like a queen and she gladly let him. In 2009 her fairytale life crumbled when Ollie passed away after 58 years of marriage. Barbara, a modern day “Fancy Nancy” loved bright colors, bling and more bling. She was a master seamstress creating works of art in pageant dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. If it was plain, she bedazzled it as only she could. Her love and gift of writing poetry documented the events of her life. Her view of life was never black and white but, vivid, bold and full of color. This queen of a lady will be missed greatly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Edna Blough, Dorris Acord, and Rudolph Thompson.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Poole (Bob) of Gautier, MS, granddaughter, Amy Bishop, grandchildren, Jacob Bishop (Morgan Rose) and Jaime Bishop Powell (Thomas)and great- grandchildren, Ollie Powell and Kaiden Bishop. Her daughter Rhonda Branham (Scott Vonier) of Hoxie, Arkansas, granddaughter, Randi Jones; great grandchildren, Jett and Olivia Jones. Her only son, Walter O. Butterworth Jr. of Milton, FL, his daughters Charice Butterworth and Ashley Butterworth (Collin)and Barbara’s great grandchildren, Ayden Shannon, Leiland and Adelle Moore. The baby of the family, a daughter, Kristie Garriga (Jay Jay) their son, Tristan Garriga (Kendall Carter; great-grandchild, /Breland Carter Rockport, Texas; a sister, Bettie Killingsworth; numerous nieces, nephews and other friends.
