Barbara Ann Rothwell, 69, of Fishing Creek, MD passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She was born on August 29, 1943 in Hoopers Island and was a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Meekins, Sr. Mrs. Rothwell was the wife of the late Wesley A. Rothwell, to whom she was married for 51 years. He passed away on September 14, 2011.
Barbara was a dedicated wife, loving mother and avid housekeeper. She loved working in her yard and cooking for her family and also taking care of her family. She was employed with Rob Roy Sewing Factory, Airpax, picked crabs in various seafood houses and cooked at The Watermans CafAC. for her daughter Caroll, where she enjoyed the customers more than cooking.
Mrs. Rothwell is survived by her two sons Billy Rothwell of Fishing Creek and Charles Rothwell of Cambridge, two daughters Caroll Ann Tyler of Fishing Creek and Sandy Stanley and husband Pete of Fishing Creek, grandchildren Regan Rothwell, Andrew Stanley (Tiffany), Brian Edger and Cameron Edger, a great grandson Cole Compton, a sister Susan Shockley (Carley) of Fishing Creek, two brothers Robert Meekins of Golden Hill and Bruce Meekins (Doris) of Wingate, four nieces Lisa Coleman, Joann Crooks, Sarah Meekins and Dana Mills, a nephew Jeremy Shockley and one very special lifetime friend Leona Smitt of Trappe. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Rothwell is preceded in death by a nephew Tony Meekins.
