Barbara Ann Boxwell, formerly of Damascus, Maryland, died peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, Maryland.  She was 85 years old.

Barbara was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, to Ovander J. Marshall and Myrtle R. Marshall.  She was raised in Virginia and attended Schuyler High School where she graduated in 1953.

In high school, she was voted Senior Queen and “most talkative.”  Barbara loved to talk, but more important, she loved to listen.  She was kind-hearted and loving to her family, friends and strangers.

Barbara met her future husband, Nicholas Franklin Boxwell, on a blind date in 1953.  They were married the following year and celebrated 66 years together before his death in 2020.

Barbara moved to Damascus in 1971 where she raised three children, Victor, Brenda and Debra.  She was a homemaker and devoted to taking care of her family.  When her children entered high school, she applied for a job position at a local bank.  She worked at The Bank of Damascus and First Nationwide Mortgage Corporation in Frederick, before retiring.

Barbara enjoying traveling.  When her children were younger, the family spent numerous weekends at their cabin in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.  As her children grew older, the family liked vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland.

Barbara and Nick also travelled by themselves or with friends.  They would often go to Charles Town Race track where Barbara liked to bet on the horse races.  They were members of the Damascus Travel Club and travelled annually with friends to Aruba (27 times).

Once her children were married, along came the grandchildren.  Barbara continued to travel and loved taking the grandchildren with her.  Fun times and countless memories were made in Ocean City or Busch Gardens, Williamsburg.  When the great-grandchildren arrived, Barbara cherished every moment she spent with them.  She loved holding the babies and playing with them.

Barbara Ann Boxwell, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, approached her life with compassion and generosity.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Wieder and husband Gary, Debra Mancuso and husband Mike, her six grandchildren, David Boxwell, Marshall Wieder and wife Raquel, Kendall Wieder, Lucas Wieder, Michael Widerman and wife Kaitlin, Kevin Widerman and wife Kylie, her five great-grandchildren, Malin Wieder, Chase Widerman, Owen Widerman, Sawyer Widerman and Cooper Widerman, her three sisters Pauline Sanders, Nancy Barta and Carolyn Simms, her brother Jack Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews.
