Audrey E. Travis of Newcastle and Steuben, Maine, wife of Ellis C. Travis, passed away of natural causes on February 24, 2014 at the Lincoln Health – Miles Campus in Damariscotta, Maine. She was 94 years old. Audrey was born in Yonkers, New York on November 19, 1919, to Edith J. and Henry R. May of New Rochelle, NY. She attended New Rochelle schools, and after graduation, attended the Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. She later worked for Terrytoons. On April 2, 1944, she married Ellis C. Travis, and the couple celebrated 69 years of marriage. Audrey and Ellis lived in Babylon, New York until 1982 when they relocated to Harrington, Maine near their summer home in Steuben. They enjoyed many years of RV travel and adventure. Audrey was especially fond of Washington County and the people she met there. In 1996 they moved to Newcastle, where they built their home on Academy Hill Road. Audrey is survived by her husband, Ellis Travis, of Newcastle, ME; a daughter, Jennifer Moyer and her husband Tom, of Kennebunk, ME; and three grandsons, Daniel Moyer, of San Diego, CA, David Moyer, of Boston, MA, and Timothy Moyer, of Kennebunk, ME.
