  • Date Of Death: 2022

Arthur Terence “Terry” Callaghan passed away Friday evening, March 25, 2022 with his family at his side.  He was 82 years old.  He was born August 2, 1939, in Manchester, England.  Terry was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Kathleen (Walsh) Callaghan and two brothers, Wilfred and Brian Callaghan all of Manchester, England.

In addition to being the loving husband of 62 years to Mary Angela, he was the father of Gayna Callaghan (Mark) of Manchester, England, Terry Callaghan, Jr. of Kent Island, MD, and Paul Callaghan (Crystal) of Denton, MD.  Known as Pappy, he was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Connor Terence (Lucy) of South Carolina, Arthur William of Kent Island, MD, Michael Ryan of Kent Island, MD, and Caroline Sophie Callaghan of Denton, MD.  Terry also had numerous nieces and nephews in England and Canada.

While growing up during World War II in England, Terry was one of many children who was taken to Wales to live with families for protection during the bombing of England.  Later, Terry worked as a mechanical engineer in England for Ingersoll-Rand for 22 years. In 1980, he immigrated to the United States with Angela and his children in Bowie, MD.  He spent his last 16 years in Hyde Park, a Retirement Community in Easton, MD.

Terry loved music, classic cars and the Big Screen. He could often be found “conducting” the orchestra and singing along with Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley. His weekends included faithfully washing and waxing his cars, which were kept in pristine condition.  Additionally, he loved John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies.  It was not uncommon to hear him tell his family, “Don’t Apologize Mister, it’s a sign of weakness.” or “Make My Day, Punk.”  He had a sharp sense of humor, a huge heart, and was a joy to be around.  He will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him.
