Age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post # 4090, as well as a member of F & AM # 31. Art was retired from the City of Portland and the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid and skilled wood carver, and loved going for a morning walk. On May 29, 1945 he married Mary Gilchrist, and together they shared 63 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 2008. Also preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving are his son, Larry (Bobbie) Fisher of Three Oaks; daughter, Bobbie (Jim) Thompson of Portland; grandchildren, Patrick (Carol) Thompson, Luke Thompson, James (Karen) Fisher, and Melissa (fiance, Randy) Fisher; great grandchildren, Kevin and Nick Thompson, and Cody and Wyatt Fisher.
