Arthur F. Purdy, 80, of Berger, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at his home.
Arthur was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 3, 1936, the son of the late Arthur & Francis (Buchannon) Purdy.
He was united in marriage to Doris T. Newman on February 8, 1957 in New York. Doris preceded him in death on September 1, 2015.
Arthur proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Mobile Oil as a riverboat captain for many years.
Arthur was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, Berger, the New Haven American Legion and was also a member of many gun clubs. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, going to shooting matches, and playing cards.
Arthur is survived by a son, Arthur T. Purdy & wife Becky, of Stony Hill, Missouri; by a daughter Rosey Brown & husband Wayne, of Mount Enterprise, Texas; a son Michael Purdy & wife Tressa, of Hermann, Missouri; a daughter Maureen (Tootsie) Purdy, of Jefferson City, Missouri; a daughter Vanessa (Mutzie) Purdy & husband Terry, of Berger, Missouri, and a son, Ashley Purdy, of Los Angeles, California, by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, by a daughter Donna Castelli, and two sons, Steven & Dennis Purdy.
