Arshag Kutner “Shog” Odabachian passed away peacefully at home on the morning of May 16, 2022. Born in Detroit on January 6, 1960, he was the son of Ara and Armenhoui (Kutnerian) Odabachian. Arshag, also known as “Shog” by his close friends, grew up interested in everything from astronomy to scuba diving, photography to extreme sports, finance to bodybuilding, and chess to racing. Any who knew him well would consider him a jack of all trades, and king of many.
Growing up in the suburbs of Highland Park, Michigan, he would make his presence known through a vast and various array of dirt bikes, cars and motorcycles. Arshag graduated Harrison High School in the class of ‘77, and continued working at his fathers’ cast and die shop, juggling dangerous chemicals and honing his chemistry skills. This close proximity to the automotive industry would lead him from applied chemistry for individual specialized car parts, to work for Cars and Concepts where he would utilize his engineering acumen to succeed in the field of Research and Development.
After some time, he decided to leave his passion for cars as a hobby, and switch career paths to work at Apollo Computer, to pursue his new passion in the budding industry of computer science. In a time before the personal computer (PC) was even a recognized term, he was already deeply interested in, and actively both building and programming computers.
Apollo Computer eventually became Hewlett Packard, where Arshag utilized his technical knowledge and his interpersonal skills to climb his way up the corporate ladder from selling computers and products himself, to the position of Regional Sales Manager where he mentored a sales team to exceed expectations.
Even while progressing his career in the computer industry, his passion for speed and excitement never wavered. He founded LAKO Performance as a side business, specializing in high-performance snowmobiles, motorcycles and personal watercrafts; and also somehow found time for other hobbies and interests above and beyond even these.
Arshag would go on to co-found Aftershock Archery, where he held and sold patents for archery broadheads and manufacturing. According to his interest in physiology and personal fitness, he would study to become an A.C.E. Certified personal trainer, which is the highest level of certification that an aspiring personal trainer could hope to achieve.
In his later years he digressed from the field of computers and sales management, to become a licensed Financial Advisor and work for well known firms such as Wells Fargo, Voya Financial, and Cetera Financial Group.
