Arnold “Arnie” Carlson, 80 of Williams, MN, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in his home with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Roosevelt, MN to Anthony and Gunhild (Robberstad) Carlson. He was raised and went to school in Roosevelt. Arnie was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Following the war he returned to Roosevelt and lived there before moving to Minneapolis. He was employed as a truck driver in Minneapolis for Twin Cities Freight for 24 A years retiring in 1980.

Arnie married Sugar Chandler June 6, 1980 in Minneapolis, MN and they moved to Williams in 1980. He opened a used car lot in 1984 and continued to sell cars up until 2006.

Arnie loved music and had a passion for playing the guitar and singing for people. He was an avid hunter and fisherman that would go fishing at the drop of a hat. He always looked forward to the hunting season. He knew the back roads in the Williams/Roosevelt area like the back of his hand.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union in Minneapolis and he was a member of the American Legion in Roosevelt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, JoAnn Marie Erickson and his grandson, Scott Kenneth Gazda.

Survivors include his wife, Laurel “Sugar” Carlson; his brother, Duane Carlson of Baudette; his sister, Adaline Nordhagen of Spokane, WA; his children and extended children, Beverly Carlson Gazda of Minneapolis; Arnold Carlson and Jill Sutton of Minneapolis; Tom Chandler and Holly Erickson of Warroad; Marchelle Nordine of Minneapolis; his grandchildren, Gary (Wendy) Gazda, David Carlson, Anthony Carlson all of Minneapolis; Eric and Chris Chandler both of Warroad; his great grandchildren, Calvin and Cory Gazda both of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.

Military honors conducted by the Roosevelt American Legion.
