Amanda Elizabeth Carlson, age 35 of Duluth died unexpectedly Monday, August 15, 2016. She was born September 3, 1980 in Hibbing the daughter of Greg and Leslie (Koch) Carlson. Amanda was a graduate of the Perpich Center for the Arts Education, Pine City Tech., Lake Superior College, and was currently studying at the University Minnesota Duluth. She was employed as a research assistant at UMD. Amanda was a thoughtful, creative, inquisitive soul with a hunger for education. She enjoyed traveling, snorkeling, the outdoors, entomology, fishing and biking. Amanda was a talented artist, who loved to create things, and loved and cared for her family.
Amanda is survived by her father: Greg Carlson of Hibbing, Grandpa: Ervin Carlson of Hibbing, brother: Matthew (Jessica) Carlson of Minneapolis, step-siblings: Jenny Irish, Tyler Blair; half-sister: Courtney Walton; uncles and aunts: Lynda Carlson of Hibbing, Don (Gayle) Carlson of Hibbing, Barbara (Richard) Grace of Mankato, Dana (Steve) Johnson of Fargo, and Marla Koch; special friend: Fred Piel; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Leslie; Grandma: Betty Carlson; Maternal Grandparents: Vic and Lois Koch.
