Alvin Hendrickson, 90, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.
Alvin Maynard Hendrickson was born on September 20, 1920 in rural Oslo, MN, the son of August and Mathilda (Fengestad) Hendrickson. He was raised in rural Oslo. He attended country school at Lakeside School and graduated from Alvarado High School in 1941. Alvin served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Hazel Hanson on July 7, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They made their home in rural Oslo until moving to rural Warren in 1950 where he farmed. Alvin also worked as a painter. They moved to Warren where they lived until moving to Grand Forks, ND in 2007.
He was a member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church in rural Oslo and a former member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren. Alvin was also a member of the Warren American Legion and the VFW. He was the Boxville Township Treasurer for forty-two years.
Alvin enjoyed coin and token collecting, playing horseshoe, collecting toys, key chains and bottle openers and beekeeping. He was a “collector of many unique things” and a hobbyist.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Hazel; four children, Maureen Fredrickson of Fargo, ND, Susan Terwilleger of Fargo, ND, Robin Hendrickson of Grand Forks, ND and Lee (Lorette) Hendrickson of Grand Forks, ND; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hendrickson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orvin, Erlin, Kenneth and Bloyd; infant granddaughter, Rachelle; great-granddaughter, Emma and great-grandson, Nathan.
