Obituary for Allan T. Halvorson

Allan T. Halvorson died peacefully at his home with family and friends surrounding him on August 16, 2006. He fought a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

Allan was born on November 17, 1938 in Jadis Township to Henry and Gena (Skeim) Halvorson. His family moved to Stafford Township in 1942. He graduated from Roseau High School in 1957. He then worked at the Roseau County Highway Department until 1961. In 1961 he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from the service in 1963. He remained a member of the American Legion. Allan returned to work at the Roseau County Highway Department and retired from there on January 30, 1994. In 1967 he met Annabelle Lanes and they were married on July 1, 1967. He remained in Roseau County for the rest of his life. Allan enjoyed farming, fishing, sports and most of all his two beautiful grandchildren, Jodi and Jared.

He was baptized at Rose Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Stafford and was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council.

Allan is survived by his wife, Annabelle of Roseau; son, Larry of Roseau; daughter, Michelle (Scott) Ostroski of Roseau; two grandchildren, Jodi and Jared; sister, Carol (DuWayne ) Olson of Hibbing, a sister-in-law, Alice Halvorson of Roseau, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dale; parents, Henry and Gena Halvorson; and four brothers, Harvey, Kenneth, Curtis and Luverne.
